Throughout her career, Kat has captivated readers with her ability to craft compelling narratives, earning her two Benjamin Franklin Awards and Killer Nashville’s Claymore Award for Best Suspense. Her work spans co-authoring with world-renowned psychic Sylvia Browne, including the bestselling Animals on the Other Side, to her romantic suspense series, Drawn to Death.
Kat holds an MFA in Writing for Children and Young Adults from Spalding University, further deepening her expertise in crafting engaging and meaningful stories for readers of all ages.

Publishing History
Kat Shehata’s publishing journey began with a passion for sharing stories that educate and inspire. Drawing on her experience as a former zookeeper, she kicked off her career with non-fiction children's books that captivated young readers.
Her first title, San Francisco's Famous Sea Lions (2002), gave kids a behind-the-scenes look at these playful marine mammals. Next came Seabiscuit vs. War Admiral: The Greatest Horse Race in History (2003), where she brought to life one of the most legendary moments in sports history.
Then, in 2005, Kat teamed up with world-renowned psychic Sylvia Browne to co-author Animals on the Other Side. The book became a New York Times Bestseller, cementing her place in children’s literature.

But Kat didn’t stop there. She dove into adult fiction with the Russian Tattoos Trilogy, a romantic suspense series that takes readers deep into the dangerous and thrilling world of the Russian mafia.
Not one to stick to a single genre, she later launched the Drawn to Death Series, blending mystery, romance, and the supernatural. Starting with Drawn to Death(2022) and continuing with Drawn to the Mafia (2023) and Drawn to the Past (2023), this series has kept readers engaged with every twist and turn.
